Fabrics galore

I have a lot of fabric orders going on right now... fabrics for pillows (lots of pillows!), seat cushions, upholstery and curtains. One of the orders is for a new client who lives in San Francisco. It is a long distance job but I happened to be up there last month visiting my daughter, so I stopped by to see their home and meet with them. They are a darling young couple who like to travel and have an amazing home right on the ocean. Their house already has a lot of their personality - I would describe their style as Bohemian Chic.

One of their priorities was finishing their living room. They had the basics in place and a lovely gray sectional sofa and geometric rug. I could see their personality immediately by the pillows they had chosen for their sofa.

We talked about adding some extra seating with a window seat and a new side chair, and re-upholstering an existing seat cushion and pillows for the new seat. While I was there, I helped them with some ideas for window treatments and furniture layout and we made up a list of things we would work on.

I started selecting fabrics. I knew my client would love John Robshaw fabrics - in fact, her bedding is one of his fabrics, but they can be very pricey so I started with his line by Duralee (a fraction of his $200 a yard fabric) and threw in a few others ...

I pulled some fabrics that I thought they would like, two different color schemes for the living room and some additional ones for curtains for other areas of the house and sent them up for them to see. I labeled each one according to where and how I would use it.

I had a feeling they would like this elephant print and I was right ...

This is what we have decided on so far... the fabric to the left is for the new seat cushion and the ones on the right will be pillows.

Your subject line reeled me in as always ;) I love the Robshaw fabrics for Duralee and I'm so glad they selected that fabric for their seat cushions - that is one of my favorites and they will love for a while. It's got that bohemian feel while still being a classic pattern. Sounds like you have a great client and project!

I thought about you when I was up there Mary Ann ... I could picture your apartment (your view) as I was heading over the bridge to Marin to meet a friend. If it hadn't been such a whirlwind weekend I would have contacted you FOR SURE! Next time! :D
