A summer wedding reception at the Long Beach Museum of Art

The Long Beach Museum of Art with its charming historical buildings and art collections was the perfect setting for this summer wedding reception. The reception took place on a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean, with globe lights and paper lanterns overhead.

I used my vintage chairs to hold the welcome signs.

The guests entered the reception through the the museum house where they were greeted by framed photographs of the bride and groom. The bride was an English Literature major in college and sent me a lovely list of poems that she loved. I printed and framed each one and placed them throughout the house.

I brought in some old books to tie in the literature "theme".

There is a beautiful two-sided fireplace in the museum house with a gorgeous wood mantle on each side. The mantles provided a perfect ledge for the photographs and framed quotes.

I brought some of my milk glass collection to add to the decor.

The check-in table was just before you exited the house to enter the patio ...

The mother of the bride made a tree of cranes and we displayed it on the table. The bride and groom live in Australia so we knew we didn't need too much room for gifts. I used my lantern for the cards.

The bride chose a simple white book for her guest book. The guests wrote lovely notes to the bride and groom.

I made a simple seat assignment board by covering a piece of foam core board with fabric I picked up at Dorell Fabrics and placing it in my large frame.

The guests dined outside on the patio ...

The weather could not have been more perfect with the warm sun and a cool ocean breeze.

The flowers were the prettiest shades of peaches and pinks. The roses opened just the right amount.

I used white vases for the guest tables and blue mason jars on the head table.

I placed framed quotes on each guest table and tied the place cards to the silverware so they wouldn't blow away in the wind.

The place cards were color coded so the servers knew which meal each guest ordered.

The cake was from Porto's Bakery in Glendale and it was as delicious as it was beautiful.

It was a magical evening ...

Congratulations Athena and Mat ... May your love only grow stronger and your sense of adventure never wane.
