Big is not better

I want to live with less. Less stuff. Less footprint. Less managing and cleaning and sorting and buying. I want to have just what I need and use. No more storage. I have been cleaning out and sorting and trying to get to a place where I have just what I love, just what I need, and nothing more. And the conclusion I came to was that we fill up the spaces we have. If I have less room, I will accumulate less. Why do socks disappear and other stuff multiplies. Do you feel like you are always cleaning out too?

Happy Monday everyone!

Moving houses is a fast way to have to edit. And we have moved a lot. Also, living in a little house on Lido Isle means no storage. So my girlfriends and I share things like ice buckets and table cloths. I cleaned out my office and it feels so good....but the office closet...eeeek!

I amo with you at this point in life. As empty nesters we are moving back to our 2000 sq ft townhouse from our 3500 sw ft home and are having to reduce the amount of "stuff" we have. While it is sometimes sad and difficult it is also liberating. Must be the age...thanks for sharing.

Moving is a great way to edit, I so agree. Staying in one place for 25 years makes you have to work harder to not accumulate! I also am with Lynda on the "must stop shopping" mantra!

I don't understand why small families or couples have huge homes with 5 bedrooms and all that, and I think it's because they need room for all they own...
I agree with you, big is not better!

hi darling, thank you for your sweet comment. I totally agree with your post, yesterday I send cleaning up the house and gave away and threw away things that doesn´t add value to my life, I prefer quality over quantity now, and it makes me more happy.

I think people can be like goldfish. Give them a large bowl and they'll fill it up. It seems like waist size has increased along with the large suv, frig and houses. None make for a calmer life though.

I so feel like I need to be cleaning out and paring down, but can't quite get there...

I have learned that by adding more one must let go.
Editing is the key no matter the size.
